The Centre Nantais de Sociologie (UMR 6025 CENS), created in 1998, is the only sociology laboratory in the Académie de Nantes and the Pays de la Loire region. CENS is a joint research unit: it is attached to Nantes Université and, since 2015, to the CNRS (The French National Centre for Scientific Research).
The laboratory has been successively led by Charles Suaud (1998-2006), Stéphane Beaud (2006-2007), Annie Collovald (2007-2015 with Rémy Le Saout, Gildas Loirand and Fabienne Pavis as director and deputy director), Marie Cartier (2015-2020 with Baptiste Viaud as deputy director), and Corinne Delmas (2020-2022 with Séverine Misset as deputy director).
